MuPiBox-NG 0.2.0-alpha.24 – Fix blank touch display (ListeningBadge packaging)
CRITICAL UI FIX
- Boxes installing alpha.23 could remain permanently on the purple boot splash even though mupibox-ui.service reported active/running. The UI logs contained: "ListeningBadge is not a type" and "MUPIBOX_UI_LOAD_FAILED".
- Root cause: the ListeningBadge.qml component referenced by the new listening-status feature was not included in the strict ARM64 release allowlist.
- The release now includes the existing ListeningBadge.qml QML component; all listening-status badge options and the existing home/media views work without removing the feature.
- The runtime build now checks every top-level source .qml component against the staged runtime and aborts before publication if any are missing. A new CI regression test enforces the explicit copy list and this fail-safe guard.
HARDWARE VALIDATION
- Pi box 192.168.2.111 ("janbox", ARM64, 1 GB RAM) reproduced the bug on alpha.23: App.qml:7839 ListeningBadge is not a type.
- Adding the exact upstream ListeningBadge.qml source to the installed release and restarting mupibox-ui.service restored normal startup. The UI service stayed active without further MUPIBOX_UI_LOAD_FAILED errors; the backend health check returned HTTP 200.
- The new release will ship this repair permanently, even after later updates.
UNCHANGED
- Alpha.23's experimental camera permission, curated webcam preview, per-app Klang-Memory sound settings, audio routing, parental controls, all original games and previous content/provider fixes remain.
- No wipe, reinstallation or settings reset is needed. Updating from alpha.23 should preserve user data and installed apps.
TESTS
- Regression script checks all currently 16 top-level QML files are explicitly copied and that the release-stage guard rejects missing files.
- The strict ARM64 build verifies the actual packaged ListeningBadge.qml and remains subject to CI, signing and hash verification before publication.
