MuPiBox-NG 0.2.0-alpha.26 – Optional media search and reliable plugin upload validation
NEW: OPTIONAL MEDIA SEARCH
- Adds an optional magnifying-glass button to the touch UI's media navigation. Enable it in Admin -> Box & controls -> Player & behavior -> Content display.
- Search known local library content, NAS content and already indexed or cached Spotify content, with responsive results, cover art, source filters and playback or browsing actions.
- Reuses MuPiBox's own on-screen touch keyboard, follows the selected theme and supports seven interface languages.
- Search is OFF by default for existing installations. Disabling it immediately removes the UI control and blocks its search API; no content is deleted.
- Isolated QML module, bounded results and debounced requests minimize overhead on Raspberry Pi hardware. Search only includes known/indexed media; it does not crawl every online provider on demand.
FIX: COMMUNITY PLUGIN DEVELOPER UPLOADS
- Unknown or repeated manifest permissions now produce an actionable validation error before installation. For example, the invalid `photos` permission is rejected with a hint to use `photo-save`.
- A single strict permission allowlist is shared by developer uploads and the official app catalog: storage, controller, audio, camera, photo-save.
- Installation rechecks the package and exact permission approvals before modifying installed files. Invalid updates preserve the previously installed version.
- Admin no longer hides upload errors behind a generic installed-app count. "App installed" is shown only after the installed app and its version are verified in the app list.
COMPATIBILITY AND VALIDATION
- Existing playback, settings, stored photos, plugin state and other installed apps remain unchanged.
- Go tests, browser-side upload and catalog tests, QML search tests, localization checks and release packaging verification cover the new behavior.
- Both changes were smoke-tested together on Raspberry Pi test box 85; existing releases are retained for rollback.
- Live manual acceptance of the touch search experience and a deliberately invalid plugin upload in the password-protected Admin UI remain recommended for testers.
