FIX – Waveshare 5-inch DSI 800×480 image flips during startup
- Community diagnostics show the local API returning 180 degrees and the running Qt UI logging MUPIBOX_DISPLAY_ORIENTATION_RECOVERED: 180 degrees. The QML splash starts upright and appears to flip when that rotation is applied.
- For the reference Waveshare 5-inch 800×480 profile with a saved 180-degree output rotation, avoid a second 180-degree Qt Quick scene transform. The selected display output rotation remains 180 degrees in Admin, while Qt's scene is kept at 0 degrees.
- Only this specific 180-degree Waveshare case changes. Other display profiles and Qt angles retain their prior handling.
- The touchscreen's independent hardware axis setting is untouched. If the picture is upright but taps land opposite their targets, report this separately; do not preemptively change touch calibration.
IMPROVED – Rotation diagnostics
- Always log MUPIBOX_DISPLAY_ORIENTATION_APPLIED with the effective Qt scene rotation, backend port and number of attempts, including immediate successful responses.
- Add regression checks for Waveshare 0/90/180-degree handling and standalone update-screen landscape rotation.
- Preserve the displayed Admin selection from the output rotation instead of accidentally showing Qt's compensating 0 degrees.
TEST STATUS
- Go, Python, Node syntax and Qt QML checks were run on the development host.
- Physical acceptance on the affected Raspberry Pi 4 / Waveshare 5-inch remains open. Please test the entire boot sequence, 180-degree picture, touch hit locations, repeat boots and Spotify navigation.
- If still wrong, supply an updated diagnosis ZIP plus exact local time and a short video showing the splash and the moment of the flip.
- Back up the MuPiBox before updating. This is a test alpha and the root cause on the community device is not yet proven.
